Max value of cos x = 1
Min value of cos x = - 1
y (x) = (-1/2) cos x
y(0) = (-1/2)
y(π) = (1/2)
Range = [- 1/2 , 1/2 ]

-1= 1/2=<-1/2 cos x=<-1/2
hence the range is [-1/2,1/2]

cos x oscillates between -1 & 1,
so (-1/2) cos x oscillates between (-1/2)(-1) & (-1/2)(1) or 1/2
& -1/2,
thus range of y = (-1/2) cos x is [-1/2, 1/2].
