I certainly am. The lack of courtesy from others while out and about, the same freakin' xmas carols over and over again, fake people wishing you fake happiness, etc. The only thing I like about xmas is watching my kids open their presents xmas morning, and going deer hunting after that until I've got to dress up in my monkey suit and get hauled off to some relatives house for dinner.

The only thing I like about Christmas is watching how excited the kids get. Call me the ultimate scrooge, but I don't want any presents, and would just rather do away with the whole crappy gift giving thing, excluding children.

I use to put up the outside lights around the house with an animated Santa and a few reindeer. The inside of the house looked like you were visiting the White House. Well, all the kids are grown and they are all coming here for the holidays and the only thing we've done is put a few things on the mantel of the fire place. I'm with you on this one. Not only is it a pain in the *** to put everything up, but then you have to break it all down in about three weeks. What's the point? We have a 4 foot fake tree with the lights and some decorations on it that is covered up with a plastic bag until this time of year. We remove the plastic bag, plug that puppy in and POOF, instant decorated tree. The crowds at the mall just make me want to commit a felony, get arrested and then you can go home after posting bail. This time of year is usually when I schedule my long awaited root canal.
Bah, humbug.

Christmas has become just another day to get through.
Here we are at the beginning of the Christmas shopping season and I watch everything that happens with disgust. Two people got in a fist fight over a parking spot in the mall. People are maxing out their credit cards without a thought as to how they are going to pay them off. Stupid.
I guess in some ways, I am lucky, I have no family or loved ones to buy presents for. I don't have to go through the insanity of this season.

I think you'll find that the Humbug Society has been steadily expanding since Americans started giving one another Christmas Gifts. Anyone who has to deal with the general public is a Saint, if they can truthfully say they still like the Holiday season.
Where do you live that deer hunting is still permitted in the shank of December? Or are you not hunting legally?

Bah Humbug! I just don't really celebrate christmas anymore. This will be my 11th Christmas in the military and I've only been home for one christmas (1999). I just look at it as another day now as I will be spending it in Iraq again. This will be the 5th time that I've spent my christmas overseas. So it's just a day on the job for me. I don't want presents from anybody because I don't even go christmas shopping anymore. All I want is the christmas cookies.

Do you really have to dress up to go to the relatives ? My
husband asks me if he can wear his coveralls to the relatives.
I tell him to wear whatever he is comfortable in.I wear whatever I'm comfortable in.Be yourself.I say wear a monkey suit to a wedding or to a funeral or a business meeting,to church but other than that no.I think Christmas is mostly for kids but the getting together of families and enjoying a Christmas meal for adults is really good for us because we just get so busy with everyday life that we don't get to see our relatives enough.I hope you learn to like Christmas better
maybe starting this year.

I totally agree! For the last couple of Christmases, I've always been miserable because I've had to buy gifts for people who I'm "required" to buy for just because I know they'll be doing the same to me. Last Christmas, I didn't buy anything for anyone except my mom & my two sisters (who I really went all out for), and seeing the happiness on their faces when they opened their gifts on Xmas morning more than made up for all the bad Christmases. I hate how people are so fake and buy you gifts you don't really want/need. Just donate to my savings fund, that'll make me happier. I also hate how gift-buying itself has become so stressful and out-of-hand when its supposed to be fun and from the heart.

Bah Humbug! :D
Yes, i am a scrooge at Christmas. Well, in respect to the materialistic side. I hate what it's become.
Being a Christian, i still like the symbolic side, but i hate how materialistic stuff and "Santa" have drawn away from it.

The reason I hate Christmas is because it makes me think of all of my family members that have passed away, and about how different Christmas would be if they were still here.
I also hate all the things you listed too, but I didn't want to repeat what you said!

i love this time of year, so what if everyone is wishing you fake happiness, at least they are not shooting you. there is nothing like being happy and carefree for a short while, even though its a tad expensive. merry Christmas every body.
