I saw a bottle hanging in a tree that spinned when the air blows...but not sure how to cut it to make it spin.
Got any other ideas or know how to make the spinning bottle above?
(It was made from a green bottle ie mountain dew)

I do believe in saving the environment and support the greenpeace organization. Any ideas welcome!

Cut the top off ( including handle ), cap it and use it as a scoop for dry pet food, laundry detergent, etc.

Use the bottom half for potting seedlings or starts. Just poke holes in the bottom for drainage.

Cap them, run rope through the handles and knot in place. Use it as buoys either on a lake or to divide your swimming pool.

Fill with sand or kitty litter and use as weights when working out.

I use mine for plant water. I fill them with tap water and let it age so the chlorine leeches out and it is room temp for my plants.

Here's a link for windspinners made from plastic bottles. Not the same as ones I've seen but would still be fun. I haven't tried it.

Here are some pretty intricate wind spinners. I don't know if I would have the patience but they are pretty!

Cut the tops off neatly, so they are still pretty deep. Add a little sand to the bottom, then push a candle down into the sand. The carton / bottle sheilds the candle from any wind or breeze, which makes them perfect for outside entertaining. They end up looking quite pretty.

Give them to a school art or science class room. Kids cut them in half to make plant pots out of one half, and a water keeper for our green house out of the other. We also made science projects with them. Like the water pressure rocket, and the water cyclone.
Great stuff that recycles and teaches about the world around us!

make a planter out of it. My son used one to make a fish pond out of. He planted a water plant and put in a misquito fish. No need to feed the fish, it eats from the plant. We had "skeeter" until we had the neighbor fish sit while we were on vacation for 2 weeks. Her dog got curious and killed the little guy by spilling out the water. Check with your local elementary school art teacher, they have hundreds of ideas that are amazing!!! (They may even take them off your hands for a project for the kids if you have enough.)

GAL. EMPTY MILK JUGS: save the caps
CUT A 2" "U" SHAPED FLAP SO IT LIFTS UPWARD AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HANDLE. LIFT AND INSERT 12 - 16 CLEAR OR COLORED MINI STRING LIGHTS (LENGTH OF STRING LIGHTS DEPENDS ON HOW MANY JUGS YOU USE) . CONTINUE THE SAME WITH ADDITIONAL JUGS TO MAKE A STRING OF THEM. YOU WILL HAVE EXPOSED LIGHTS BETWEEN THE JUGS (HOW MANY WILL BE BASED ON HOW FAR YOU SPREAD THEM PART).
FOR HALLOWEEN, USE CLEAR LIGHTS AND HAVE THE KIDS DRAW SCARY FACES WITH BLACK PERMANENT MARKERS AND GLUE ON SOME DECORATIVE FEATURES TO MAKE GHOST LIKE IMAGES OR USE ORANGE LIGHTS AND MAKE PUMKINS. PLUG THEM IN AT NIGHT AND THEY GLOW.
PUT ABOUT 2" OF SAND/STONES IN THE BOTTOM OF ONE JUG, GLUE THE CAP ON THEN GLUE THAT JUG TO THE BOTTOM OF ANOTHER AND DECORATE AS SNOWMEN (USE A GOOD ADHESIVE).
WHEN THE OCCASIONS ARE OVER, TAKE OUT THE LIGHTS AND PUT THE JUGS IN YOUR RECYCLE BIN AND START FRESH THE FOLLOWING YEAR.
PUT THEM ON YOUR PORCH OR FRONT YARD.

i use them to water the plants. I leave the tops off, and make a small pin hole in the bottom side so the water slowly drips out. The plant does much better with a slow watering than just from the hose, and I use less water too.

Clueless about the spinning bottle thing-however-you can fill a 2 litre botlle w/water + 1tbsp clorox>put it in your toilet tank so you use less water. I have an OLD tank-you may have to get a 1 litre.
