Hi, The normal bp should be 120/80 or below. But again 130/90 is on the higher side or normal. Generally for younger people it's somewhat ok as per doctors. But this is the warning sign and you need to think about reducing it. I've bp range bet. 120-130/80-90. I have stopped red meat and junk food. 10 months back my weight was 87kg and bp above 130/100. Now I weight 75kg . I achieved this by walking briskly for 30-40 minutes, reducing junk foods and reducing foods which contribute high calorie. Still I need to work more on this as I feel still it's little high. I am 34 years old. Prasanta

You should been seen by your doctor to get your blood pressure under control before it gets any higher. You are a little borderline at this time. Usually a low sodium and losing weight with exercise as in walking can get it under control. Stress can also be a contributor to high blood pressure and exercise is good to reduce stress levels.
Blood Pressure Category Systolic
(mm Hg) Diastolic
(mm Hg)
Normal less than 120 and less than 80
Prehypertension 120–139 or 80–89
High
Stage 1 140–159 or 90–99
Stage 2 160 or higher or 100 or higher

Normal is 120 / 80.High BP can definitely be controlled, curable or not depends on what caused high BP. You know high BP is only a symptom and may be caused by several factors/diseases.Generally one can reduce High BP by proper diet(less fat, sugar, processed foods, for example),exercise(relaxing type),yoga and Meditation.Maintaining stress free life also helps.

It's above normal. Good BP should never exceed 120/80. Cut down on red meat, sugar, salt and fat. No alcohol and no smoking too. And dont forget to exercise.

You should read "The Blood Pressure Solution" (also available in electronic format, watch the video presentation here: http://www.fixbloodpressure.com ) It's a very comprehensive step-by-step book that walks you through the natural remedies of high blood pressure. It provides you with a lot of information on what foods to eat, how you can acquire and prepare these foods, how you can change your lifestyle for the better, how to eliminate the toxins from your body, how to reduce stress, how you can check your blood pressure level the correct way etc.
The book is amazing in that it not only lowers your blood pressure without the help of medications; it also aids you in having a life that is healthy, happier, and less stressful. This book chanced my life.

I think you are okay.Typical values for a resting, healthy adult human are approximately 120 mmHg (16 kPa) systolic and 80 mmHg (11 kPa) diastolic with large individual variations. While statistically normal values for arterial pressure could be computed for a given population, it needs to be remembered that, not only does arterial pressure vary from person to person, it also varies in individuals from moment to moment. Additionally, since there's no guarantee the norm of the population in question should even be considered healthy, the relevance of such values would be questionable. In US normal values are 120/80 and in Uk normal values are 110-140/70-90.so you are in between that.do not worry about that.Hope you are satisfied.

I think 130/90 is currently considered "borderline" high blood pressure. Doctor's like to get it lower with medicine. High blood pressure is controllable through medicine, diet and exercise.
In general blood-pressure lowering lifestyle changes can include losing weight, eating foods low in fat and salt and high in potassium, not smoking, limiting caffeine and alcohol, getting regular exercise and managing stress.
Following the DASH eating plan is the most successful:

Moderate Hypertension is considered to be a systolic BP > 125. Your is not bad. Ways to reduce is by eating low salt, low sat fats, and excercise. Do you have a family history? That is a contributing factor.
