I have no idea how much it is, but go to an Applestore and they should be able to help you. If there's not one close to you, call customer service, they might be able to give you an estimate.

Getting it fixed might get very expensive though. If you can still use the keyboard and the rest of the thing works, have you thought about just buying an external USB optical drive?

EDIT: Greg, usually warranty doesn't cover damage you've done to it yourself, like when you drop it or bang it against someone, else everyone would just bang it up good just before warranty expires ;) If you have purchased Applecare you might be able to get it fixed for free

Get yourself out of the Apple money pit before it sucks you dry. Sell your Mac on eBay to some sucker and use the proceeds to buy a real computer.

Take it to the Apple Store, if it's under warranty it could cost you nothing at all.

while you're taking it in and that they ensure it needs to be reinstalled, enable them to comprehend you have information you desire to maintain if accessible. i think that ultimate purchase has Geek Squad for doing their pc restoration stuff, a minimum of they do right here. in the event that they'd desire to interchange the confusingchronic make helpful they comprehend you like your confusingchronic given back to you.
