I live in Europe, and I must say that the socialist form of society can be felt in two major areas.

DISASTER. I feel that if you really, really get into financial trouble, there is more of a safety net, so you and your family don't really go crashing to the bottom.

The mentality of the people. I think that the people in Germany trust the government too much. I really don't want to see the day when things come crashing down and the security blanket is taken away. Just seems as though they think nothing bad is ever going to happen to them. Only an opinion.

I prefer the socialist form better, however, but I'm glad that I've lived in the USA, so I can more appreciate what I have now.

They both have their advantages and disadvantages. Taking health care as an example - It'd be nice to be able to afford to go to the doctor once in a while, but why should I have to pay for everyone else? I really don't think there's a "better" system.

I favour the European more: the state has a responsibility to its citizens & they all have a responsibility to the state. The American way seems more like survival of the fittest.
