The Evil Genius Handbook states, simply, “None of the brains have ever complained.”
Still, there is controversy. Does lack of complaint indicate the Vat is “Brain Heaven”, or is unvoiced pain the construct of Hell? Professor E. Will Lefter infamously dismissed the debate, stating, “They float unaware, and unquestioning. Our creations are content. Not even God can make such a claim.” Later that day, he was smote from the Earth.
So the rest of us are left to stare at the Vats, with fascination and wonder.
Strange, though, that isolation distorts our reality, and yet it is so appealing. We are, as ever, capricious bits of consciousness. We long for interaction, yet find it wearing. So I replay five times a song that evokes melancholy. There is something in solitude that is exquisite, and wholly entrancing. In my little musings, it is loneliness that inspires Humanity to Greatness. It causes us to reach out, to connect, to feel compassion, to create. Art is just a plea for understanding, a tryst for the Mind.
Our Truths are, in part, defined by opposition. It is the bane of perception, that only through knowing despair can we recognize Hope. But today it rained, and under the snow there was still one green plant, with one little flower. Now how do you suppose that got there?
Truly, the World never ceases to amaze, and you are one source of amazement... started a song, which started the whole World singing… :-)

Being a heart person I know very little about brains. But my little brain in a vat (that's my skull of course!) has been pierced through by the sharp clear voice of this wonderful singer and the sadness has flooded it so much so that water is threatening to overflow through the twin windows of my soul...
Now if only I could sometime open this vat, brush the cobwebs away, remove the dank musty odor, blow-dry the contents!!! Or better still, 'unhinge' totally and hang it out to dry in bright sunshine till it's nicely toasted and crisp and screw it tightly back in place...I'd feel gloriously warm!!!
P.S. Can I dry my brains in Microwave Oven on sunless days? Help me out my brainy friend!!!

I would think that it would be very difficult to feel the wetness of water without the availability of a contrasting perception.
Try this quick experiemnt. Quickly grab several linear feet of 1/4 inch metal plating or the equivalent amount of aluminum foil to fashion a sensory-deprivation tank (very popular in the early 70s). Weld where necessary and jump in! (first fill with water). You will feel something!! but it is not wetness!
Sometimes, I believe that we are so much a part of our environment that we don't realize how much it limits our perspective (e.g., like a fish, unaware of the water in which it swims). We think we know "space" simply because we move through it so easily, when in fact, from some outside perspective it might really look and feel like vanilla custard with chocolate sprinkles.

A brain in a vat can feel the wetness of water unless there is no water in the vat.
Or unless there is no vat.
Or unless there is no brain in the water in the vat.
Your questions are most fascinating.

. . . . . . . you expose my vulnerability down memory lane with these wonderful, haunting songs from my Berkeley days! The brain can imagine anything we challenge it including the wetness of water when one is submerged into a vat, feeling the water around the head and body, assuming the head is attached to the body, with the free and blissfulness, the serenity and weightlessness of such an experience.

Yes, the brain can feel the wetness, and actually enjoys swimming aerobics.
Thank you for the beautiful, yet sad, song.

Most Interesting question. Einstein or The Fish would
perhaps understand this feeling most coherently I guess!!!
By the way, "I Started A Joke" has always been my
favourite song since I don' know when...a teenager... (-:

This one truly cracked me up... my brain IS in a vat, but alas, it's filled with air, not vanilla pudding (Except when I have a cold, eeewww)!
