I know how to isolate x, but i'm not sure how to isolate x if t's a fraction?: 4x = 8/4

Also, how do i solve this? 40 + ⅝?

Another thing, how do i turn a radical into a fraction? 40⅝

I appreciate your help!

well for 4x = 8/4
you should simplify 8/4 into 2
then turning it into
4x = 2
which further simplifies into
x = 1/2

for 40 + 5/8 dont think you can somve that because there is no equation
however if you mean
4x = 40 + 5/8
then i would divide both sides by 4, giving
x = 10 + 5/32
then use a calculator for decimals
or just
x = 325/32

in addition, you can turn a radical into a fraction
but it is only useful if what is inside the radical is a fraction
note: sqrt(x) is equivalent to the square root of x, that is just my notation

ex. sqrt(40&5/8)
put into improper fraction
= sqrt(325/8)
then you can split it into numerator and denominator
= (sqrt(325))/(sqrt(8))
and use a calculator to solve

multiply both sides of the equation by 1/4 and you will get
1/4(4x)= 1/4(8/4)
x = 8/16
x=1/2

40 + 5/8= 40 5/8 leave as a mixed number.

sq. rt 3 / 1 just as you would 10= 10/1

if 4x=8/4=2, then
4x=2 (multiply 1/4 on both sides)
(1/4)4x=(1/4)2
x=2/4=1/2

notice that 40=40 x 1=40 x (8/8)= 8(40)/8=320/8. Thus,
40+5/8=320/8 + 5/8= (320+5)/8 =325/8=40(5/8)

stunning it fairly is one way of staring at it. you probably do now no longer understand the thank you to handle fourth powers yet do understand the thank you to handle squares. be conscious that 4x^4y^4 is comparable to (2x^2y^2)^2 it fairly is comparable to one in each and each of your diverse words so enable u = 2x^2y^2 and the undertaking will become: u^2 + u + a million/4 = 0 a quadratic in u with the squared component (u + a million/2) so which you like u = -a million/2 to make the quadratic equivalent 0. substitute the x,y expression for u and locate the relationship(s) between x and y

just multiply 4 with the denominator

x= 8/16 or 1/2

and
just get the common denominator
40+s/z = (40z+s)/z
