The NEO or Dana by AlphaSmart is on my wish list.
The NEO provides up to 700 hours of operation on 3 AA batteries! It includes a full-featured word processor that is compatible with Windows and Macintosh.
The Dana is a Laptop-PDA hybrid that is fully compatible with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint file formats and offers Wi-Fi capability for checking emails.

Yes. It's called a laptop. bestbuy.com might have some for good prices. There's also something called Microsoft Word, which people like to use for writing.
Magical, no?

Laptops, Pocket PCs, Palm PDAs, Smartphones.
For Pocket PCs, Palm PDAs, and Smartphones you should consider getting an external keyboard add-on if there is not one already built in.

I have used Palm Pilots in the past (they had keyboards you could connect them up to to make entering data easier). Now, I'm sure they have other devices that would work just as well.
Check out www.palm.com to see what they have available.
