Hide some of the "ant hotels" like the roach hotel. They are small and can be placed in the cabinet under the sink, or hidden. This will eventually get rid of them, and help keep them away for many months. Good Luck, ;-)

Yes. Try wipeing the area with vinegar. Ants hate vinegar. If you dont like it then dilute it with a little water. You can put it in a spray bottle to and spray the area w/o wipeing it down. Put some in a bowl where the ants are to. Any kind of vinegar will do but I've had better results with Apple Cidar Vinegar bought at the gocery store.

Keep ants away from where?...If the ants get in your house often, it is probably because it isn't clean and ther might be food dropped or something like that. Just keep the place clean and the ants will go away

Don't leave any open food containers lying around and if you go to wal-mart they have a Harsh-Free spray that will keep them away without the dangerous chemicals.

MOST insects hate vinegar of ANY kind so other responder is right. I dont know where you need ant control {really should do an edit and add some info} but I have used cucumber peels around blanket when having a picnic. You might try rubbing the peels on and around problem area and see what happens. The cheapest and best thing to use for bug control ie: roaches, ants, termites is boric acid. i am close to fifty yrs old. when i was a young child my mother read an article in dear abby telling how to mix up what writer called bug balls using boric acid. writer never got a dime but somebody in the corporate world heard about it and made MILLIONS by putting her product into powder form and calling it "roach proof" it is now being used in other de bugging products as well. look at a container of roach proof and the ONLY active ingrediant is 10% boric acid all the rest is just filler. boric acid has a certain property about it that causes powder to jump on and stick to a bugs body. its kinda like how static electricity acts with your hair and some types of clothing. you mix the boric acid with something the ants like and let them walk thru it and pig out on whatever treat you have mixed it with. I have also rolled a wet lollipop in the mixture and laid it in the ant trail. you can also use upside down bowl with in and out notches cut into it for use on ant trail with bait in middle. It does not kill them immediatly it just gets stuck on their icky little bodies and bugs carry it back to the nest where they DO die. Once the boric acid is in the nest on dead bodies or whatever you have mixed it with, it kills the entire nest both by contaminating the nest area from the dead bodies and because bait has been fed to the queen. It works like a charm and within 2...3days at most, entire ant colony is completly gone. You do not want to handle bait when you mix it up and you want to put it out of reach of kids and animals because it IS toxic but not as dangerous as the hard core chemicals you are wanting to avoid. If you read the label on boric acid container it gives you instructions on how to use it for EYE WASH so it cant be THAT bad. If you know where the ant bed is outside you can put a couple tablespoons of mixture in and around the hole and then put a weighted down bucket or bowl over it. I generally use a 3 to 5 gallon bucket with a cinder block on top. ants immediatly dig under rim of bucket to get in and out but birds pets and very young children can not get into it, you have to cover nest anyways cuz the boric acid is an extremely fine powder and will blow away very easily. Depending on what state you live in you may need to get the boric acid from behind the counter at the pharmacy[walmarts] but you do not need prescription for it and many hardware stores now keep it behind counter as well. Being guarded is a fairly recently development due to fact our friendly dopers have found uses for it other than pest control and eyewash. I hope this helps and if you have any questions just email me. good luck...proxy

I use raw garlic cloves. The smell of the garlic disappears after a day and it works for about a month or until the cloves dry out.

Put them were ever you have seen ants and they will go away, I promise.

You could use boric acid. Boric acid is poisonous to ants acting on their exoskeleton, and is not harmful to human beings.
