Yeah, pretty neat. Some Mensa people changed just one letter and came up with some pretty funny definitions. For example:
Sarchasm: The gap between the giver of sarcastic wit and the one that doesn't get it.
Reintarnation: Coming back to life as a hillbilly
Osteopornosis: A degenerate disease. (This one got extra credit)

American popular culture is too enamored of flash and bling and has no substance to back up the style thing. We are watching our young people die in the latest war for oil and we flock like lemmings to the Dodge dealerships for a fullsize pickup with a hemi to use for hazardous commutes to the mall. During the last MI blizzard I tried not to laugh at the trucks ditched all over Detroit area as I motored by in my ancient Cadillac with lousy tires, no amount of engineering can fix stupid. My culture, meaning my socioeconomic niche in my Country is people of North-Western European descent. When it comes to embracing lifesustaining changes like reducing carbon emissions is for humans at this time in history my people are oblivious sheep. Human nature assumes the macrocosm will always bend to our will and denies signs of imminent change so we can stick to our guns and "git'r done yall". I would like my ethnic brethern to remember or maybe learn the saga of the first time our ancestors attempted to mold the "New World". Erik the Red discovered good farmland in Greenland in 985 AD and soon Vikings settled there. Their farms thrived on the virgin soil and they did well for a time. Then there was what some climitologists refer to as little ice age during the the late medieval age that probably made farming a deadend as a way of life in Greenland. The torrential three year period of rains in Ireland beginning in 1315 AD were a likely catalyst of the cold spell. The Vikings could see the weather changing year to year but refused to give up farming. At this time the Aborginal Greenlanders made a good living at seal hunts but few Vikings took that up. Gradually the Vikings died off until their numbers were not strong enough to fend off attacking "Skraalings" as they called the Aboriginals. Less than five hundred years after settling the Vikings were no more on that island. I wonder how many of Americans will see the Vikings of Greenland in Summerland (Valhalla for farmers) when we kill ourselves off by being thickheaded stiffknecks. So the change I want to see in middleclass Americans of north western European descent is change itself, the ability to adapt. Also Amercians need to rediscover an appreciation of art and craftsmanship. So long as we don't throw out Lutheran Church Lady potluck suppers, we definitely need to keep Lutheran Church potluck suppers. Rock on Garrison Keillor.
