Personally I would not pay extra for a seasonal product, if they think they need to make the NFL some elite thing like boxing that you have to pay for, I wont be watching it. I think they are overstepping their popularity, and if they continue to be arrogant, and try to force their will on everybody they'll eventually fail and lose popularity. I like football, but not enough to pay extra for the station.

Meh, there's always Hockey... I don't want them to add NFL to my basic cable and raise the rate of my basic cable... Its a joke to put a network that can only have new programs for half the year, and for 2 hours 2 or 3 hours a week. They owe it to their loyal fans to let them watch the games for free. If they want to force the issue thats fine, but this is one fan that their pushing away from the game rather than toward it.

Joecon: Yes, they want it to be on basic cable, but you have to understand, that they plan on charging you more for it. I think cable prices are already too high, it just gets worst if they allow every sport, every activity, every little thing to have its own channel.

The NFL has made a bad choice here. Gumble and Collinsworth are horrible and the camera work blows.
They are a football league, not a broadcasting company. Leave that work to the professionals.
Also, the switch to ESPN for MNF is a disaster. I am much more inclined to take in the Sunday night game with top notch announcers and real network feel.
I like the announcing crew on MNF, but the SNF team is 10x better. If Al and John had made the move with MNF, it wouldn't have been so bad. With the way it is right now, don't be surprised to see something drastic happen to MNF.

The NFL network is also showing the Patriots-Giants game at the end of the year, so if the Pats are 15-0, most of America won't get to see them go for the undefeated season. It's absurd to ask fans to change their cable or satellite company just to watch a couple good games a year. At least make the games available on a pay-per-game basis.

The deal is that they want to test the waters and see if eventually the viewers can only watch NFL games on the NFL network! The owners see it as a way to make more money! The Thursday night and Saturday night games are only the beginning! If enough people pay the cable and satellite companies for the extended packages to see the NFL games then eventually you will only be able to watch the NFL on their network! That is their hidden agenda! Bet! It may take a few years to see the swing but within the next 2-10 years that is how it is going to be! Its all about money! They don't care about the fans only the money! Get ready to pay to watch any and all NFL games in the future!

My local cable company had put the NFL network on their "basic" channels. Basic being everything but HBO, Cinemax, channels like that. Enough people had complained and the cable company listened. I really enjoy watching the network. I would consider myself as a BIG football fan. If I did not get the NFL network on my cable channels, I would not have a problem buying it for more money. It is a good channel to watch when ESPN is playing shows like poker figure skating, or other shows that do not interest me. If you want to watch the games they are showing, bug your cable company. If the NFL network is still around in a few years, I think everybody will have it on the normal channels, just like MTV, CNN or ESPN.

The NFL Network does not limit the number of games you see.
They air some extra games that would not be seen except by Direct TV customers who pay extra for a special game package.
The NFL Network doesn't come close to being the top force keeping you from seeing games. That would be Direct TV who has a contractual lock on most games played every week.
Any blame can go to Direct TV's elite little games package, not the people showing an extra game.

Absolutely not because they want to charge a premium to cable companies for coverage like ESPN does, yet they are only good for a couple hours a day of programming for 6 months. What about the rest of the year. I think they are trying too hard to churn profit when they are already the most profitable professional sport in the US. This might backfire on them a bit and I really hope that it burns them. I get NFL Network, but I don't think it should be limited to people with outrageous plans. ESPECIALLY when you are snagging games that are really in demand like the Green Bay v. Dallas. That's just cold hearted to do that.

Like it or not the NFL is a business. There is nothing wrong with the NFL wanting to broadcast games on the network they own. If you do not want to pay an extra (in my HD cable digital sports package I get 12 sports channels for $3.95 a month in my case) to watch the games then don't. But you really have no reason to ***** about it.

No one is "Denying you games". If you don't want to pay for their product then you don't get it, same as with any other product.
If anyone is keeping the games from you it is your cable provider. They are raising your rates and adding little or no new programming every few months.
Maybe you don't remember when there were 3 games on in a week, 4 if they had "Monday Night Football on Thursday Night". We were happy with what we got.
If you don't want the games don't pay for them. If you do then pay. Simple as that.

First and foremost, it's ONE game that you probably wouldn't be able to watch anyway, unless it's your local interest game, in which case you get the game on network TV.
Secondly, the NFL isn't your enemy here. It's your cable company. The fight between the NFL Network and Cable Companies stems from the fact that the cable companies want to make this a channel on the premium sports tiers. The NFL Network wants it to be standard programming, like it is on Direct TV.
