I have a pretty sweet rig right now with 3GBs or ram but have the capability to add up to 8gigs ( 2gb x 4 ) and plan to do that once i upgrade to the windows 64bit OS. My friend told me that 2gb sticks have heat issues and "require" a heat sink or a special fan to keep them cool. Is this true or bull?

It's bull, as long as you aren't overclocking them they will stay at a perfect temperature without any fancy cooling. I'm assuming they are PC2-6400 800MHz, correct?

if you can put a cooler or fan, that would be much better. these things do heat up. if you can keep it cool, it will perform way better & will continue to perform well longer.
