The story doesn't sound as interesting, and apparently Grant, Lex, and Tim don't make appearances. I rather thought that Malcolm and Harding were not very interesting either in contrast to the other characters mentioned.

I am talking about the books. I haven't seen any of the movies (I was born the same year as the first came out, so I have no knowledge of them). I just wondered if it would still be good without the three main characters from the first.

IF you are talking about the book... Get rid of any and all ideas from the movies. The second book I found to be just as enjoyable. It takes place on a different island and there are lots of dinosaurs and good characters and bad characters. It has been a while since I read the book but, I do remember that I like it a great deal and that it was a good continuation of the story.

If you do want to compare it to the movies the third movie is more like Lost World (the book). But even there it is still pretty different.

I've read both books and enjoyed "Lost World". It is true that it is hard to sustain a series, but you should try it and judge for yourself.
