but when I'm single I tend to gain weight and not care EVERDAY about my appearance? I think it'd go the other way around but not for me.

Because you are unhappy being alone and dependent on having a relationship and work hard to keep it. The only way to make sure you are truly happy in a relationship is to be happy with yourself. Good luck!
