He's 23 and I'm not very close to him anymore so I'm not sure what he's really into right now. He's a pretty typical guys though. I want to get him something kind of personal but I can't spend more than about 10 bucks.

How about.....writing in the card how you admit you have drifted apart and no longer know enough about his life to pick a good gift......but that you still value his friendship and wanted to honor it......then enclose a pre-paid charge card for ten dollars to his favorite store

Wal-Mart has some nice cool guy watches for $6-$10. I picked up a few for the family today. Get the ones that clip onto backpacks, they have a nice look to them.

get him a visa gift card (although its not too personal it is exactly what he probably wants! its cooler than cash and he can use it at any store!) Or get him a CD you have to talk to some of his family to see what he might like though.. some suggestions are- Plain white tees... Red Hot chili peppers...Kanye West...

Music Cd or DVD, DVD of a movie he would like, crazy soxs, T shirt of a fave band or sports group, jewelry if he is pierced, just about anything but a tie......a twelve pack to share.....
