Completely assinine. Abortion = killing an INNOCENT unborn child. Capital punishment = killing a worthless piece of garbage that lost their rights when they unjustly took the life of another.
I can see if you support both of them, neither of them, or support capital punishment/oppose abortion. Totally assinine to support abortion/oppose capital punishment.
Quote from ross. "The criminal still has potential".... Only in the eyes of a liberal and their "restorative" justice concept, which favors rehabilitation over punishment.... sigh

Not as much as being pro-life and being for the death penalty. People make all sorts of rationalizations to explain the difference, but in the end, it's two different spheres of thought that contradict each other.
I think it's easier to understand being pro-choice and against capital punishment. Where the disconnect may lie for you is not understanding that most people who are pro-choice do not think like pro-lifers. They don't believe a human life is being destroyed. They believe, basically, that a clump of cells which is not viable outside the womb does not constitute a human life. Therefore, identifying someone on death row as a human life but not the zygote as a human life allows them to see no contradiction at all. If they feel that way, then there isn't a contradiction. The imagined contradication for you may exist because you don't get that they don't think it's a human life to begin with.
But when you reverse it to ask why folks are pro-life and for the death penalty there is no good explanation. They are pro-life because they believe all human life is sacred and it belongs to no one but God to make the decision whether that life lives or dies. Until of course it comes to the death penalty. Then they feel quite fine about taking over that job from God. I've yet to hear a good explanation of how they can possibly rationalize that contradiction away.

Not at all. People who are pro-choice believe that a fetus is not a human being. Our supreme court has pretty much said the same thing. Fertilized cells are lost all the time. Any woman who uses an IUD is allowing conception to take place - just not allowing it to attach to the uterine lining so it simply passes out of her body. Many birth control pills work the same way. And often fertilized cells fail to attach naturally - even when the woman is hoping to get pregnant.

I understand why ppl might think that it is weird at a glance but once you examine it, it's not.
I am pro-choice and anti-death penalty.
Why?
While I personally could not choose to have an abortion, after reading the Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade, I understand why they ruled a woman had a constitutional right to privacy over what happens to her body... as Americans either we obey and believe in our Constitution, or we don't.
My personal belief (not related to the court decision) falls on a woman's right to choose based on when a fertilized embryo is an independent life. I think only God can answer that so must give the choice to the woman. We, as a society, unplug ppl from life support daily... because they are dependent on a machine... there is no difference in an embryo being dependent.
I am anti-death penalty because there is no question on whether the person is a life or not. In this case, no matter how you look at it, the prisoner is an independent life and whomever takes that life (except God), is a murderer.

I don't think anyone's FOR abortion. It's not like people are running around saying to each other, "Hey, how many abortions did you have? 5? I had 6!!" It's just that some people think it's a personal decision and an individual has the right to make that choice, and others think that abortion is tantamount to murder and so it becomes an issue of the fetus's right to life as opposed to the rights of the individual considering abortion. It should be noted that there has not, to date, been any headway made as to the determination of the "personhood" of the fetus. Until that happens, expect this very long and contentious debate to continue.

Do you think that being AGAINST abortion but FOR capital punishment is a little weird? I do. Both sides of the aisle are hypocrites.

Not at all.
I am for abortion because I hate children, am against capital punishment because that's the sort of thing they do in backwardass countries like China or Saudi Arabia.
Western civilization is too cool for that.

No, I think that it is an opinion set. What is weird are people who believe they should be able to enforce the perceived rights of a fertilized egg over the rights of a female to control her body.

No.
There is a genuine difference between a fetus and a human, and the meaning of living between the two.
What I do find weird is how people can be pro-life and pro-capital punishment. It's like saying, "you can be born, but the first step out of line, you're on death row."
It makes no sense.
