Every snowflake has its own unique shape and is different than all other snowflakes.
All snowflakes have six sides.
Snowflakes aren't always white. Years ago, when coal was used in factories and homes, snow was often gray. Why? Because the coal dust entered the air and was absorbed by the clouds.
In Prince Edward Island, Canada, where the soil is red clay, snowflakes often look pink. Why? Because red dust from the soil is blown into the air and absorbed by the clouds.
The largest snowflakes ever recorded fell in the state of Montana in the United States of America. The snowflakes were 15 inches in diameter.
The snow capital of the United States is Stampede Pass in Washington State. Each year, the average snowfall is 430 inches.
The average snowflake falls at a speed of 3.1 miles per hour. (5 kilometers)
Snirt is dirty snow that flies off the dusty Canadian prairies.
People buy more cakes, cookies and candies than any other food when a blizzard is in the forecast.
A blizzard occurs when you can't see for 1/4 mile. The winds are always 35 miles an hour or more. The storm must last at least 3 hours to be classed as a blizzard. If any of these conditions are less, it is only a snowstorm.
Billions of snowflakes fall during one short snowstorm.

1) Snowflakes are always six sided and it is thought that no two are ever the same. (this has been shown to be false, as scientist have discovered 2 flakes that were identical).
2)The shape and form of a snowflake depends on the temperature and amount of moisture within the cloud.
3) Snowflakes can be divided into six main shapes:
plate (flat), stars, column, needle, dendrite (lacy) and capped column.
4) When it is very cold the snow is very fine and powdery and the snowflakes are quite simple in design, normally rod or needle shaped.
5) When the temperature is closer to freezing point (0 degrees Celsius), the snowflakes are much larger and more complex in design, such as a star.

When water freezes, it arranges itself into a crystal-like structure with a vast number of 'void' areas between water molecules. This is due to Hydrogen bonding. This is also why water in the liquid phase is more dense than ice, thus causing ice to float on top of water. The crystalline structure of solid water is the reason no two snowflakes form exactly alike.

They claim that no two snowflakes are alike. I think thats an impossible claim to make. Someone would have to be pretty fast with their eyeballs to make up that crap.

They are wonderful little copies of the stars in the heavens that come floating down as if from a passing comet....They are as unique and special as all of us are to him that created such a wonderful vision ..... When i look closely i just begin to understand what kind of a loving God we have , a God who could make such a simple substance look as though we stand among his endless stars as they drift slowly to earth....
