No. He earns 5x more than I do and even has the nerve to tell everyone he doesn't even touch my salary so what's my problem with his..... that's a big time j*rk I'm unfortunately married to.

Hell no! It is community money! You are both contributing, either financially, or if you are the housewife or stay at home mom. If it is because you have worked out a budget TOGETHER and determined a set amount of entertainment expenses for yourselves, that is one thing; but other than that, I stopped getting allowance when I was 10 years old, I don't need to justify every penny I spend, I work my butt off every day.

What am I,,10?
No, I handle the money (I'm the better money manager) and we discuss major expenses together, otherwise we budget any "extra" so we both can spend on what we want after all household expenses.
This works great for us.
One spouse should not be giving allowance to the other, it is communal money and should be treated as such.

are you his child, if you are not then u need to change this situation, kids and the incompetent are the only ones that need allowances, if you are not working out of the home that is just as much your money as his. do you know that they sat down and figured it out one time but a stay at home mom was the equivalent to two and a half full time jobs of working outside the home

Nope, I give him HIS allowance.
That is because it is easier for me to handle the finances, and easier for him if we do it that way.
If you are giving your husband your check and not getting anything from it, then you need to take a more active part in your family finances. Your responsibility, not his.

I wouldnt call it an allowance. When your married its not his money and its not your money its both of yours. If he is giving you an allowance then its time for you to either get a job or tell him its both ya'lls money not just his..

We both work and we put our money together and he pays the bills. We both get an allowance that is ours to do with as we please.
