I know what you mean. I graduated in June and I had problems like that. Im a black girl and I mostly hung out with white girls, than theres the fact that I listen to 'rock, emo, county'. Alot of people had problems with that.
It isnt just high school either. Its peoples close-mindedness. People think that if someone is a certain race they cant do things that are usually done by a different race, therefore they have to be ignorant and trash talk those who do it.
Just dont pay any mind to ignorant people. If they cant accept you for the way you are, ***** them. Dont change who you are. What goes around comes around.
Dont mind people who dont matter.

When i was in High School, there was one White girl on the Step Team and one Black girl on the Dance team, so everyone always said Jill was trying to be Black and Brandy was trying to be White, but i always thought that was bulls hit. To me, Jill just liked to step and Brandy just liked to dance. I never saw anything wrong with it. They did what they liked, regardless of what everyone thought, and i admired them for it. And as for you hopping around from one group to another, i never fit into a clique, either. In fact, the closest thing to a clique i've ever been in was the complete opposite of a clique because i was the kind of freaky girl and there was a Gay guy, a "thug" a "geek" and a preppy girl (my Creative Writing class) and we were all best friends. I can't stand being around one type of people either because if you're that closed minded, you never know what you could be missing out on. So i think it's great that you're open to different things. I know it makes High School hell, but trust me, it makes things much better and easier once you enter the "real world"

I don't really know what your question is. Are you saying that you feel uncomfortable that people mention that you're the only white girl on a mostly black team? A lot of white youths like rap & other aspects of black culture, but very few actually participate in them. But if that's the culture that you prefer, then don't worry what other people think.

Don't worry about what other people think. If your friends like you and you like what you're doing, that's all that really matters. You must be good at what you do if you're on the school step team.

Girl do your thing. Those people who are talking about you will be the lame-os who don't know how to talk about anything but the views of thier immediate circle in 10 years.
