Even though viruses and spyware don't really effect Linux yet, I like being prepared.

Linux distributions usually come with one built-in. You can configure it easily with external programs like Guarddog, though.

Linux doesn't need another software firewall. If you're really concerned, buy a hardware one.

there is nothing to be prepared for I have been at it for a year now an nothing and I surf hard unless your worried about passing stuff on to the dummies still using MS if so it kinda depends on what distro you are using some have it available built in just needing activation

Linux IS a firewall....

iptables...learn it, live it....
