Bitter cold winter
In the restless New York city
Day & night, I long for my dreams
Screenwriter, actor, director, producer
So far away they seem
How can life be so unfair? How can life be so unfair?
Talented, creative, extraordinary
Screaming within, nobody could hear
Trapped below $30,000 a year
A potential talent fully aware
Millions and millions to be made
But nobody important cares
My freedom is a prison
At a corporation called Cablevision
Eight hours a day, fourty hours a week
One thirty minute break
Two fifteen minute paroles
Whenever the call que dies down
And the Hollywood dreams come to mind
The next call comes in
And you kiss them all goodbye
Life is cruel, life is cruel

(last part cont. below....)

Get a new job, get a new job
The people say
You search and search
But the new job doesn't want you
So you shun the people away
Get a degree, get a degree
The people say
Save and save, you try
The tuition hates your budget
So you throw that idea away
Salvation is undiscovered...
Salvation is undiscovered...

For bad spending habits and stupidity
More money means more problems
For common sense and intelligence
More money means more time
Where is my chance?
Where is my chance?
I have a dream
I have a dream
Fully aware and pre-engineered
Why hasn't it been arranged?
Why hasn't it been arranged?
Things never change

I go back to sleep
With a heated forehead
And tears in my eyes
As I tuck my dreams away
I whisper in their ears
"I'm so sorry for all this,
just hang on a little longer,
we will make it,
I love you very much"
And kiss them each goodnite

Real writers write, not because they want to score a movie deal, but because they must.

If you must, keep writing. Build your skills. Write plays for community theatre. Blog. Write articles for online content providers.

Very few people get paid to do what they love. That's why we get to have hobbies. You get the same 24 hours a day as everyone else does... how you use them is up to you.

Apparently Bubba is in the wrong field. Very impressive senario explained with all its frustrations. Think of the talent within the 200,000,000 people who populate the US. Every town, city, village or hamlet has a potential actor and thousands are in drama schools who , if they are truly talented, will gravitate to New York after graduation. Some will make it on Broadway, Some off-Broadway, others in traveling units, others in summer theaters. Talent far outweighs opportunities , so who will prevail?

Hey, life is like that at times, but you sure could use some insight into yourself. Counseling is the way to go. Show the counselor the poem, or at least read some of it to him or her. If the first counselor does not help, gave it some time before you replace the first one, but if the first one is not helping after a few sessions, then ask for a referral to another counselor. Each one is different and one my not help but the next will, at least there is a good chance she or he will.
I know this because I was for years a peer counselor to combat veterans and some guys and ladies I could help and some did better with another counselor. It is that simple.
But, for your sake, find one. A counselor can speed the process of learning about yourself by years.

Always! Never let go of your dream . You are blessed with a gift. The darkest hour comes just before the break of day. When you can't see your hand in front of your face, don't go back to the previous light. Feel your way through the darkness. What is on the other side is so much brighter.

Welcome to adulthood and the rest of your life.

Interestingly, it's hard times like this that can either inspire you to get off your woe is me and find something that is more to your liking or swallow that bottle of sleeping pills and getting it over with. Choosing life is tougher and braver than just checking yourself out over a bridge or building. What you want is NOT going to get handed to you on a silver platter. So what does that mean? That may mean being uncomfortable for awhile until you get the experience and skills to parlay into the career you want.

Now...WHAT is your question, poet?

How much longer? Until you address the Creator with your aspirations and dreams for your time in life and ask Him how His plans interact with yours and how He wants your role to play out in His plans. Don't give up entirely, just remember His timing for you is something no one knows but Him and your trust and faith in Him say to let Him work through you in His own good time - - - and you will be compensated.

This probably should have been asked over in the career or poetry sections (see: "Arts & Humanities" OR "Business & Finance") rather then "Family & Relationships".
You copy righted your question?
Oh My!
Are you sure you want an answer or publicity?
