Because people are easily fooled by looks and character.

Many Americans just don't want to take time out of their busy day to study up on "boring" political stuff. Personally, I think that in order to vote you should have to pass a written test that shows you've studied the various candidates and you know what you're voting for. That way only people who actually care about the direction that their country is going in would be able to decide that direction. Casual and easily manipulated voters are a big reason why the government is so broken right now.

Because 80% of people vote a certain way without caring what the candidates stand for. For various reasons:

a) Family members tell them to
b) Friends tell them to
c) Their favorite TV stations tell them to

It's insulting if you ask me to vote without knowing what is going on. This is why I have never once voted because I have not paid enough attention. This year, however, I am starting to become interested and I believe I will make my first trip to the polls.

Mike Huckabee is my favorite right now.

I do sometimes worry about the euphoria at US rallies. Its easy to get carried away with the atmosphere rather than seriously looking into the character of the candidate. As an Englishman I do wonder how such an intelligent population can find themselves finishing up with such embarrassing political Representatives.

Amen brother.

I have no idea why people don't research.

Like a few uneducated women (and men i guess) are actually voting for Hillary just because they would like to see a woman president. They probably know nothing about her.

I wish the media would stay out of it and people could just research the candidates themselves. I always hear the Clinton News Network slanting their stories towards Clinton. And then F*cks News supports whichever Con they like.

It's ridiculous.

People who read this, do your research, like I did, and you may end up changing your mind, like I did. (Clinton to Obama)

I ailways find out as much as i can about a person looking for my vote even when i was a student i did it for the ones looking for positions in the student union. i see no difference in finding out about the lad who wants to run the sports club in the students union when i was there and the guy going for the highest office around. i want to know how they act when i ask my questions and everything they say are have said in the off guard moments.

People should do research. What is the point of even voting if you do not know what it is the person you are endorsing stands for?

Because they are lazy. That's why the spin machine comes out in full force for each politician. The majority of people are lazy, and they vote on spin.

We are doomed.

Because what research are you going to trust? I can look up any candidate, and two reliable sources will say two different things about a candidate. The simple answer is, theres not truth out there, the facts can be fudged to say whatever the sources want to say.

Some are just too damn lazy to do such work. And some just don't care - like the first answerer. Both are a complete shame, and should never have the right to gripe about our government if they don't contribute to it by voting or doing so with some information. . .

Because people are generally very lazy. It's easier to vote for the candidate who tells the best lies, and wears the best suits, than to do any research.

Vote for Rudy!
