My husband wanted the baby named after him . Unfourtunetly he is already a junior, making my baby a third . I wish I could go back in time and stand up for what i want. The baby gets baptized soon and i don't even want to say his name.

It's not such a terrible name , It's just not original . Not his own . His name is Curtis Fredrick . I wanted to compromise and name him Benjamin Curtis . I love my husband , I'm just mad at myself . Everyone says to just call him C . I can't change his name , it would break my husbands heart . And maybe my son will like it when he gets older(i hope). Maybe I'll call him Trey , I like that a little .But I want to get things engraved , what do i write? what do i put on his christmas stocking ??

What did you name your baby? Just curious... but you can get the babys name changed...**EDIT** That's really not a bad name, why not call him Curt? Hmm.. If you like trey, then do trey..just talk it over with your hubby!

Why did you ever give in? Didnt you fill out the papers in the hospital? I think you need to sit your husband down and tell him whats up and see how he feels about changing the baby's name. Or you could call him trey or tres(trace) for the third. I know of a few men with those nicknames because it was too confusing when they were little to be called by their daddy's name.
So, if the changing the name thing doesnt go well, then just start calling him something else!!! You can! You are his mother and can nickname your baby! People do it all the time!
Good luck!

If you and your husband are still together, I think he would take that hard. Obviously he is proud of that whole second and third thing. Honestly, I don't think the name is bad at all but I like traditional and kind of old-fashioned names...and I'm not his momma.

Trey is a good option. What about a nickname related to either of his names. I can only think of Curt for Curtis but all these are derivatives of Frederick...Eric, Erich, Erick, Erico, Erik, Eryk, Federico, Federigo, Fred, Fredd, Freddie, Freddy, Fredek, Frederic, Frederich, Frederico, Frederik, Fredi, Fredric, Fredrick, Fredrik, Frido, Friedel, Friedrich, Friedrick, Fridrich, Fridrick, Fritz, Fritzchen, Fritzi, Fritzl, Fryderky, Ric, Fredro, Rich, Rick, Ricky, Rik and Rikki.

Or make one up! It's you baby.

My husband and I named our son Xavier Declan...my husband picked the first name, I chose the middle name. I figured on making sure that all the paperwork at the hospital said "Declan" so that they would know that's what we (ok, *I*) wanted him called...just sneak it in and dad couldn't stop me! LOL Unfortunately Xavier had to go to the NICU and I'd had a c-section so his dad had to go with him and couldn't remember how to spell Declan...so Xavier is our lil Xavier and I call him Declan because all I think of is the Xmen or cabbage patch dolls when I say Xavier!

I like the idea of "Trey" as a nickname...but I'm sure sorry that you're in such a bind!
Best of luck to you!

Have you thought about calling him by his middle name at all? Trey really doesn't match any name he already has and he's going to be forever explaining why he has that nickname, because he's going to ask himself when he gets older. Does your last name have a letter that could go with the initial C? Like C.D. or C.J. or C.T and you can call him that, at least it would make sense.

you are being a bit dramatic. Curtis Fredrick is good. call him Curt or Fred or Rick. i agree with you in that Benjamin Curtis would have been much better but keep Benjamin for the next one.

Try talking to him again and let him know that you still feel uncomfortable with your child's name. If nothing else just give him a different nickname. I have an uncle named Jefferson but i only know him as Randy and I never questioned why. Him drivers license says Jefferson?!?

My son is 2 years old and since he was born we called him Bear cause he grunt like a little cuddly bear. Its kinda weird cause he only answers to Bear not to Dayton(his real name).

So even if your husband is too stubborn to give in your son will not have to suffer his entire life with a Nerdy name. And I am a third in my family so they called me TREY

I have two girls. If we ever have a boy my husband wants to make him a third! I have told him NO from his first request. It's nice to have a name from a grandparent or ancestor, but who wants to have the exact same name as there dad their entire life? My mother-in-law and her daughter have the same name and this has caused them credit problems! If you know in your heart that you truly don't care for this name change it. My 10-month-old daughter has a very popular name, but I gave her the name because I love it. He's young enough where everyone can get over it. Maybe you can keep the middle name or somehow compromise on the name. To make a name change you need to contact your local Dept. of Health and Hospitals.

Its not that bad of a name..just call him curt for short or something....But if you really want to change it..all you have to do is get it legally changed on the birth certificate..but its kinda weird..being named something the first 4 months of your life and then all of a sudden its different....and ya never know he might like being named aftr his father

you can get the name changed but I'd do that fast before the baby gets baptized. my b/f and i have already agreed that we'll name our first son after him and he'll be a third as well. i don't see any problem in it. but then again, the name of your child may be more unique than William Scott.
