Maybe i'm amazed - amazing song that paul played all instruments on .
Jealous guy always sounds half finished but most post Beatles Lennon stuff sounds that way to me.Paul had more polish (maybe too much on some songs). So Macca all the way on this one

"Maybe I'm Amazed", definitely. My favourite love song of all time...probably one of the most real, sincere songs Macca's ever written. Let's face it, Linda was his muse (and probably still is...Heather Mills must have loved that when they were together), much more effectively than Yoko Ono was Lennon's.

"Jealous Guy"...the song is great, mainly due to Nicky Hopkins' piano and Jim Keltner's drums...lyrically, it's typical emotionally crippled, neurotic Lennon. Why he insisted on using the majority of his solo work as a psychiatrist's couch I'll never know; he should have just gone to a pshrink (besides Janov the Primal Therapy guy) instead of subjecting his listeners to his numerous neuroses and/or misguided political views...it got a little tiresome after a while, especially knowing he was capable of mind blowing "I Am The Walrus" type genius wordplay. At least he's being honest in it: it's no big secret that John Lennon treated his women like dirt. "Jealous Guy" also started off as a ditty called "I'm Just A Child Of Nature" (aka "On The Road To Rishikesh") while Lennon was still under the influence of Maharishi. I don't think "Maybe I'm Amazed" started off as anything other than the great song it is, and arguably one of the few solo Beatles tracks there are that are actually of a Beatles calibre.

I am a huge Beatles fan and if you had of said any other McCartney song then it would have been Lennon's forsure but that is a tie. I love Lennon on Jealous Guy and Maybe I'm Amazed is one of McCartney's best solo pieces.

You picked just about the ONLY match-up that Paul could win... the love song "Maybe I'm Amazed" was hands-down better -- OUTSOLD Lennon's song by millions and had so much airplay, that it anchored Paul's post-Beatle career (along with 'Jet').

You'd have to pick another Lennon-solo song to topple that one, even for me.. a Lennon over Paul fan.. anyday. In fact, nothing that Paul had done on his own compares to "Imagine", and John's been dead for 26 years (so Paul's had some time to catch-up). He just can't.

Though I am a huge Beatles fan and tend to lean towards Lennon most of the time, in this case I would say Maybe I'm Amazed. Together they were unmatched as a writing team; but as solo artists you can definately tell the difference in their styles. A sad day for Lennon fans in two days. Unfortunately it's the day before my birthday, so it's a bitter sweet time of year for this Beatles fan.
