I used to like them the same way. Then I gave up meat. I generally don't miss eating meat, but every now and then, I do miss a good, medium rare, grilled steak. Used to love them more than anything.

I love steak and will eat it pretty much any way as long as it is hot. But if I had to choose I would say Medium

I like it "Pittsburgh Rare" that is just slightly grilled marked on the outside with heavy bleeding on the inside. A true flavor where cracked pepper can be sprinkled on for the right flavor and juice. Now this requires a tough and sharp pair of teeth to eat at the chewy meat, this type of Rarity is great on a buttery piece of steak aka filets.
