I'm sure all of you have seen in the news the CIA report on Iranian nuclear developement and if you haven't seen it on fox news (just joking), you cought the part about how a nuclear weapon is unlikely to be the case. The question is how long will this hold over? You know they're going to pull some nonsense like the agents lied or a report isn't good enough to ensure our safety (but it's plent to age a war).

How long and what do you think they'll scare us with this time? Don't be afraid to be sarcastic and far fetched.
I got my money on the head of the project being gay and had an abortion with an Iranian loyalist who helped him cover things up.

Since Irans pres. said he wants to exterminate Israel and the Western countries, my money is on the fact that they DO have a nuke program going, or trying to get one going.

WHy is this report the God's truth, but the Iraq WMD report was all bull, and full of lies? hmmm? meets your little agendas?

No, I think this time, it's been de-neocon'ed. This is not to suggest that Iran is somehow not a threat, I think it is deservedly a regional power in the Middle East (simply on population).

It is also the case that Iran does not act in any way which is compatible with our interests, this does not mean war, it does mean we must be reasonable and acknowledge our national limits and interests and be vigilant for our interests.

It is an extreme stretch to suggest that having a nuclear weapons capability is the same as putting nuclear weapons to use in the many varied terrorist state sponsorship programs for example Hamas of Al Quaeda).

Al Qaeda for instance enjoys broad support from radical elements of the Saudi Arabian Al Saud family itself, Yemen, UAE and elements of the ISI in Pakistan, however nobody is crazy enough to give them nuclear weapons. The same is true for Hamas or any other such organization.

This is true for one very simple reason, we have a VERY good idea of exactly what the chemical profile of the nuclear materials produced in each country are, - like a finger print.

So if Al Qaeda drives a U-Haul into Tel Aviv or Manhattan or Kandahar or Jedda and detonates a weapon, everyone will KNOW exactly where that weapon's materials originated from - and barring a chemical signature stating the materials came from Paris, Texas or Crosny-Signorsk, USSR, the consequences for the source country will be immediate and rather severe.

More broadly, as poorly advised as this administration IS, elements within are unable to move further with more aggressive middle eastern regional policy (far too late for the Iraqis) since using single source intelligence and disregarding what the entire rest of US/UK intelligence community had to say about Iraq has has pretty disastrous consequences for our nation - to say nothing of the consequences to Iraq.

Personally, I'm just about wrapped up a rather nasty journey to the heart of the neoconservative "political" movement, and I can now speak - rather unfortunately - with some authority on the subject, suffice it to say that after reading some dozen or so books and dozens and dozens of articles by Kristol, Douglass, Strauss, Abrams, Bennett, Perle, Wolfowitz and others that these guys are largely a fairly racist bunch of academics who definitely do not have the interests of the United States or most people for that matter, at heart.

Speaking in grand terms about human rights and flowery language which would at first blush seem all good (who's not in favor of human rights after all), they are perfectly content to overlook, curtail or circumvent those rights and governmental protections when its consistent with their real ideological desires and objectives.

At the end of the day , these guys owe alot more allegiance to Herr Carl Schmitt - an 1900's German Nationalist political thinker (particularly "The Concept of the Political") and to Nicolo Machiavelli than to any of the more subtle conservative thinkers of the enlightenment or Gilded age - such as Hegel (whom is often referred to).

As long as my post is, I figure I'd throw some eye candy in, I found this post a few years ago, and at the time felt it was unforgivably fringe and fairly reckless, Now I realize that while the presenter is fairly freaking smug, he is largely right.

Fear has been the driving factor for every single person on here who said Iran is a viable threat.

Logic has been the pathos for everyone who said this is an obvious direction this administration is taking because of the ideologies of the Project for the New American Century, which is clear, and not classified, look it up.

People in the United States seem to have a very limited academic knowledge of Iran, its history of the facts and accusations involved.

The statement that Iran called for Israel to be wiped off the map has been criticized internationally because it is in fact a 'lost in translation' sound byte. Most of the middle east despises the fact of Zionist, that being Jews get Israel because they are Jewish, that is the only reason. They do not dislike Jews because they are Jews, the president of Iran was simply sitting they think Israel should not be a country, and should thus be removed from the map as not a viable sovereign country. He was not alluding to violently removing Israel form the map.

You have to make a choice in giving in to fear, and justifying things that are wrong by that fear, or erducating yourself and making a choice as an informed individual with your democratic vote.

War is not the answer, and for those who seem to only get their news from FOXNEWS, i highly suggest you try these as well.

I think so NIE is doing a big mistake and unfortunately, first of all, we, people in Iran are going to pay the price then the rest of the world.

EVeryone in Iran knows that mullahs (Islamic clergies) ultimate goal has been to get their hand on nuclear weapons, just I can't see how NIE is bringing piece of non-sense as a report!

i don't understand if the Iranians are slick sufficient to attend, yet while they concept Obama could be a mushy touch and have of challenge on the presidency, they could lie low. On Bush's end, he replaced into probably waiting on the Israelis, yet they have problems with their contemporary PM. If the Iranians do something stupid like attack certainly one of our ships interior the Gulf, he could do something. They do nothings, and he passes it off.

I give it a week.

These same people have claimed that Iran was working on nuclear weapons for the past 2 years. yep every week they said it for 2 years they said it.

Now one time they decide , well, maybe they stopped in 2003.

How are we supposed to believe them now? These are the same people who said that Iraq had stockpiles of WMD. remember that?

I am sorry but I cannot trust one report to be right. And I certainly cannot trust Iran while they are still refining uranium.
