ok a great way of thinking about this is shopping.
say you have $600 to spend. You see a super cute purse for that exact amount (i know that's a little much but work with me here haha) but you see that it is 50% off....that is the same thing as 1/2 off. So it would be only $300. 25% is the same as 1/4 so that would be $150 off of the price.....

x/600=50/100........or x over total is equal to the percent out of 100....x is the number that you are trying to find (ie 50% of 600), the number under x is the total number, the number over the 100 is the percent of the total number you are trying to find, and 100 always stays the same....this is a ratio....you would in this case cross multiply so x/600=50/100 goes to 100x=600 *(times) 50 (which equals 30,000 btw) once you have that, you divide both sides by 100 so you have x= 300 and that is your answer!

hope this helped and didn't just confuse you!!!!!!! good luck!!!

50% of 600= 1/2 of 600=300 or .50 of 600
25% of 600= 1/4 of 600=150 or.25 of 600
20% of 600= 1/5 of 600= 120 or .20 of 600
30% of 600= 3/10 of 600=180 or .30 of 600
40% of 600=2/5 of 600= 240 0r .40 of 600

either change the percentage to a fraction or an equivalent decimal because it makes it easier to solve the problem.

Remember 100%=1 so anything under 100% will be < 1
Hence the fractions indicated here and their equivalent decimals . ex. 45% to a decimal would be solved by either making it 45/100 reduced to 9/20 or moving the decimal point 2 points to the left which makes 45. to .45

a. 50% of 600 ( 50% equals to half)

= 600 x 1/2 = 300 ( so use 600 x half or 600 divide by 2)

b. 25% of 600 ( 25% equals to 1 quarter )

= 600 x 1/4 = 150(so use 600 x 1 quarter or divide by 4)

c. 20 % of 600 ( 20% equals to 1 over 5 = 1/5 )

= 600 x 1/5 = 120 ( so use 600 x 1/5 or divide by 5)

d. 30% of 600 ( 30% equals to 3/10 of 600)

= 600 x 3/10 = 180 ( so 600 x 3/10 or divide by 10 times 3)

e. 40% of 600 ( 40% equals to 4/10 of 600)

= 600 x 4/10 = 240 ( so 600 x 4/10 or divide by 10 times 4)

OK

Don't stress - % is one of the easiest things to do:

Think of % in decimals and think of the word of as *

a. 50% = .50 * 600 = 300
b. 25% = .25 * 600 = 150
c. 20% = .20 * 600 = 120
d. 30% = .30 * 600 = 180
e. 40% = .30 * 600 = 240

Always remember that % is like saying what portion of a 100 or what portion of a $1.00.

So 50% is .50 which would be 50 cents of a dollar or 1/2 a dollar.

If you remember this - you won't go wrong.

Hope that helps.

a percentage is the portion off 100 which means 50% is 50 off 100 which is 0.5x100.Hence divide the percentage value by 100 and multiply it with the number meaning 50% of 600 is 0.5x600=300, 25% of 600 is 0.25x600 is 150 , 20% of 600 is 0.2x600 is 120,30% of 600 ie 180, 40% of 600 is 0.4x600 which is 240

go by 10 percents: with ten percents all you do is,........... take a way a 0........... for example 10% of 100=10 ..............all you do is take away a 0. Therefore when you get to 40% you find the 10% first and multiply it by 4 to get 40%. for example 40% of 120= 48...... 10% of 120=12 and then you multiply it by 4 to get 40% which makes it equal 48 because 12*4=48.
a. 50% of 600=300
b. 25% of 600=150
c. 20% of 600=120
d. 30% of 600=180
e. 40% of 600=240

it is really easy. all you do is this.

I will use this ( / ) meaning a fraction

for the first one you would write

50/100 X/600 = go 50 times 600 which equals 30,000 and then divide by 100. your answer is 300. 300 is 50% of 600 . to check your answer go 300 divided by 600 which will equal 0.5 and then multiply by 100 and that willl give you 50.

for number 2 to you would go

25/100 X/ 600 = go 25 x 600 and then divide by 100. you should get 150. 150 is your answer. to check go 150 divided by 600 which is 0.25 and then multiply by 100.

do you get it now?? hope this helps

A percent is basically moving the decimal point of the percentage 2 times to the left and multiplying it by whatever the number you're taking the percentage of.

For example, for question a., all you're really doing is multiplying 0.50 and 600: take a calculator and punch in 0.50 X 600. Repeat for the rest.
