It all depends on who is there with you. If its the whole family with kids, then flashlights for safety reasons. On the other hand if it is just you and that special someone, candles every time.

When the power goes out, we either go to bed early, or we reach for a flashlight to find candles. Since we only have one flashlight having candlelight through out the house is a must. We normally don't have our power out too long, so we have only used candles a few times. I think it was maybe more just to use it for something new.

Both...To light up a room, I'd use candles...To move around in the dark, I'd use a flashlight...

Coleman Lanterns for me. Much brighter than a candle, and lasts longer than a flashlight.

Too many beans get eaten in this house for candles. So it's Solar powered flashlights. (Think about it.)

Candles and old fashioned lanterns........

I have both. I also have an oil lamp which uses lamp oil which is mostly kerosene. You can never have too much backup for a power failure.
