My high school "best friend" dropped out a few years ago with passing grades. We lost touch but within a years time she had found me again. This time she had a baby. I was okay with it at first. She is 19...does not drive legally...and is on welfare and wic. She works at Subway part time and she is engaged and pregnant by a different man. I am so disappointed in her. I think she can be doing so much better with her life. She does not seem to care either. She thinks the world owes her for her mistakes. I told her how I feel about her life...and that I'd like to help her get on track. She ended up getting nasty with me and now does not want to talk to me ever again. What do you think? I want honest opinions. I am only trying to help her because I care about her.

I have to disagree ...there is a hell of a lot wrong with being 19 with two kids...she works at subway...subway cannot support you and two kids.

She got angry b/c the truth hurts, save your help for someone who wants it, maybe a mentoring program for woman who are looking for a mentor of sorts. She will realize her mistakes after kid #3, stuck in the 1 bdrm insect filled apt, wondering where her friend is so she can "borrow" some money. Trust me, I know many like her, one being an ex-girlfriend. Gorgeous girl but all messed up.

Honest and straight, here it comes.

Your friend is a slvt, a leach and a professional victim. She is beyond help. The best thing you can do is walk away clean and don't look back.

Sorry, but sometimes a spade is not a spade, it is a fvcking shovel. Recognize her for what she is and move on before you end up in the gutter with her. I would rather split her support between you and me than for me to have to support both of you.

BTW, you are not alone in this sort of situation. One of my wife's sisters has a college education and never worked more than a minimum wage job in her life. Mostly house keeping at motels and convenience store clerk jobs. Now she has leukemia and is on SS. She is about 56 years old. And married to a guy who sits and plays video games all day long. It's sad but I'm not even trying to help her anymore.

my sister is like this and there are just some people you just can't tell anything. It's like a train wreck you can't not watch.Sometimes all you can do is sit back and help where you can. We can't change the world,no matter how much we try. Some people are OK with living like that.my sister is 20 with 3 kids 2 fathers and her B/F works at a gas station. I couldn't live like this but it's OK with her. Good luck just try to be a good friend.

What you propose are two different questions:

There is nothing wrong with being 19 with two kids. There are alot of young parents out there that can raise healthy (physically/emotionally) and happy kids!

However, someone who believes that life owes them and leeches off society is not right. I believe that people are free to live their life any way they see fit as long as their decisions do not negatively affect other people.
