Air pressure would slow the descent of the unfortunate person, but if he fell a very high altitude he would probably freeze to death or die from lack of oxygen, in any event if survives those conditions he he doomed when he hits the Earth's surface.

The parachutes for Air Force pilots are set to open at an altitude below 14,000 feet. This allows them to free fall through the region where they would freeze or pass out from hypoxia instead of lingering up there in a parachute. Once the chute opens, they are at an altitude where they'll still be darn cold, but at least they can breathe.
