Okay so here is the problem. I have lap top and my wireless works fine. But I also have another deskop computer and it has a cable plugged in for internet and it works fine. But when I plug that cable for internet in my lap top and try to connect through it with local area connection it says limited or no connectivity, and the internet doesnt work. So what could be the problem? It must be something with my lap top settings as the other computer works fine when I try to connect with it to internet.

Check to see if the ethernet port on your laptop is ENABLED.
These can be turned off, I did it to mine once and had fun trying to find it. Click on Control Panel, Network Connections, and the then on the ethernet adapter Right Click it and see if there is line that says ENABLE,, if there is the plug is simply turned off.just click the enable line to turn it back on.

Other than that you might need to be sure the TCP/IP settings are set to "AUTO" click that same adapter, click the Properties tag and scroll down to Internet TCP/IP on that screen, be sure Obtain Address Automatically is check.. Same with the DNS entry.

Hope that works for you.
