First off, how exactly does the GPA work? The site says that 8 semesters of honors/AP classes can count for extra points, but beyond that it just looks good that you took them. But is that 8 for sophomore and 8 for junior, or 8 altogether?

Considering that not all honors/AP classes can be worked into your GPA, is it better to have a better GPA with a couple less honors classes or the other way around? Basically, how much do they consider that you took honors/AP classes beyond 4?

Do they look at your GPA unworked (the way I see it now) AND reworked (the way they calculate it), or just the way they do it?

How much do they consider what high school you go to? I go to a Catholic High School in Oakland that is known pretty well for being a good school, so how much does that help me?

Your UC GPA is calculated using grades you received from a-g courses, excluding freshman and senior year. The 8-semester cap is for calculating eligibility only. For application evaluation, the UCs look at unweighted and fully weighted GPAs.
