theres isn't really much advice. You can never be prepared but i found you naturally know what to do when you have to. Always keep in mind during labor why you are doing it and you are going to gain the most precious gift for your efforts. Good luck. Try not to take in too many stories of other people as you will be totally different.

Also i wont lie to you, yes it hurts but its not like any other pain you'll ever experience. i was SSSOOOOO worried about giving birth and ended up doing it totally natural no drugs, gas or anything.
Water is your best friend. If you can spend as much of your labor as possible in the shower. It works.

Good luck again

Don't worry about it! I had my baby in June and was also very scared. But the dr.'s and nurses put you at ease and work with you from the moment you walk into the hospital. The nurses checked on me and gave me anything I wanted/needed. They will do the same for you! Just don't be shy. Tell them what you need and if you are experiencing any pain. I was in labor for 23 hrs, which sounds horrible, but it really wasn't. Out of all that time, I was only in real pain for maybe an hour because the epidural blocked all the serious pain. The worst part about delivery is being patient. :) The last two weeks leading up to it you just can't wait to see your baby.

Well, from my experience the hormones will carry you through. The day of my labor I was pretty calm the whole way through - all 26 hours of it. The pain was like nothing I could have ever imagined. But all the nurses were saying how well I was taking it??? I have no idea where that came from, as normally I am a person that freaks out under pressure! It must have been the pregnancy hormones... Yes, it is scary and painful, but you unconsciously realize that there it something bigger going on that your pain - your baby! Focus on that, and it will make it go much better. Also, order the epidural early cuz you do not know how long the doc will take!

I have had 4 sons and 2 daughters and I have to say boys are easier but it depends on babies personality overall.

Its normal to be scared of labor and delivery because it is unknown. And for those of us who have done it, its still scary because you know how horrible the pain is. But the baby is worth it and it is forgotten.
Your body was made to give birth so think positive and relax and you will make it through the birth just like the rest of us.

I haven't heard anything about girls or boys being easier...

Many people describe labor contractions as being like severe menstrual cramps that come and go regularly. I had back pain due to the positioning of my babies. The contractions (or back pains, however you feel it) gradually get closer together, stronger, and last longer until you are fully dilated. When you start pushing, it feels like you are having the largest bowel movement of your life.

You are early enough in your pregnancy to take childbirth classes and read a lot of books. I had both of my babies without pain medicine (which people have done for centuries, its not *that* bad!). I suggest reading up on the Bradley method and on hypnobirthing. Even if you choose medical pain relief, it really helps to be well read on birth methods and confident in your choices.

I just had a baby on November 20th. Trust me, you have never felt anything like labor. While the pain can be insane, you will be thinking constantly about the miracle that is happening within you in those moments. My best advice - get the epidural as soon as they will give it to you!!! If you are seriously anxious, as well, then arrange to have your doctor have something ready for you even before the epidural.

Good luck. You can do this! Trust me!!

I dont think girls are easier than boys or anything haha but what I can tell you that is by the time your 40 weeks you will most likely feel different haha. I know its really scary, and yes it is alot of pain but you soon forget about it once your holding your baby in your arms!
The way i made it through was just to try and stay focused thruogh the contractions. I rested inbetween, i was falling asleep between them when i was in the bath which was awesome. I kept my support person by mysdie thorugh each and every contraction. which made me feel safer. i didnt speak i didnt want to i just wanted to close my eyes are just concentrate.
Dont froget our bodies are made for this! You'll do GREAT! seriously, it is such an awesome experience. its worth every minute! good luck!

No one person can accurately describe to you how childbirth feels. They can only tell you what childbirth felt like to them. Mine felt like really bad period cramps but I was able to give birth without any pain medications. Others have described it as their insides being ripped out and how painful it was for them. Every body is different, every woman deals with pain differently and every labor will vary in the degree of pain.

Try to prepare yourself for your labor/delivery by watching videos of mothers giving birth. A baby story on TLC is a good place to start. Look at relaxation techniques and have someone there that can help keep you distracted. I found listening to instrumental music of songs I knew the words to and then trying to repeat the words in my head helped keep my mind off the pain. You could also memorize a pattern of numbers or colors, states or a topic that interests you and then try to repeat them to your birthing coach as a distraction during labor

Just remember our bodies are built for this. Women have done it since the beginning of time. You'll be fine hon. Congrats on the baby and best of luck!

Oh and a baby is a baby. Labor wouldn't differ just because of the gender of the baby.

delivery so wonderful, it is the labor part that can hurt like you never felt before. That is why GOD invented medications such as epideruarls and any other pain killer they can give you. Don't be afraid to ask for them. They want to make sure you enjoy the experice more than feel the pain. They won't give you anymoe than you canhandle. If you are stitched after delievery, get the pain meds before you leave the hospital, once the BM's start coming, they can hurt and it helps to have the meds available if you need them.

Used meds with 3 or the 4 kids; 3 rd came late and on his own time...in other words he progressed rather quickly that I didn't have time for pain meds and man I was sorry for it, but he was well worth it.
