No.
'Tasco' = the acronym for:
'Total And Serious Cost Over-run' for their product design and marketing...
They're the same people who advertise:
1000X , with only a 60mm aperture...
No way.
It doesn't work.
Don't do it!

Tasco has been famous for decades as the leading producer of junk telescopes. We all had hoped they had gone bankrupt, but they seem to have survived to rip off another generation of beginning astronomers. DON'T BUY A TASCO!!!!!
Tascos are usually sold in department or discount stores; like all scopes sold there, they are cheap junk, a total waste of money. Buy a telescope at a telescope store: you won't pay any more, but you'll get a real telescope, not a toy. Look in the Yellow Pages under "Telescopes." If there are no telescope stores in your area, buy online from a telescope store (not eBay, Amazon, etc.)
One good dependable online source is Orion:

Even their least expensive scopes are better than anything Tasco imports:

If you can manage it, choose one of the first two telescopes on this page, as spending a little more money makes a big difference in quality at this price level.
But please PLEASE don't buy a Tasco!

As you have no experience, it's important to get an idea of what you're getting into and what you can expect. It's important not to rush your decision, or you'll both spend a lot of money, and get discouraged with a hobby that can bring a lifetime of enjoyment and learning.
Find a local amateur astronomy club. They'll be VERY happy to give you advice and let you look through their scopes. If you do a search of Wacko! Answers for "telescope" in the Astronomy and Space section, you'll find a lot of helpful advice.
Look for the answers with the most thumbs-ups. This isn't the best place to be getting telescope advice, but the people who generally answer scope questions are reliable.

Telescopes are expensive if they are any good at all. Even if you get a good telescope it's junk if you don't get worthwhile eyepieces for it. Good quality eyepieces alone cost more than the best Tasco telescope ever made. This is NOT an inexpensive hobby.

Tasco make expensive coathangers not astronomical telescopes.
You should buy a telescope from a telescope store, not a department store.

Tasco is the tinker toy of telescopes. Cheap, but then you get what you pay for.
