slope is change in y (dy) divided by change in x (dx): -4/-2 = 2

midpoint is average of coordinates:
x = (-4 + -6)/2 = -5
y = (3 + -1)/2 = 1
midpoint (-5,1)

distance² = dx² + dy²
distance² = 4² + 2² = 20
distance = √20
