Someone has been prank phone calling me for the past 4 nights at various times in the night(like 3:30 in the morning). It's getting very annoying and creepy as the person knows my name and I am sure it's not someone I know. I've called the police but that was not helpful because they said that they couldn't do anything but file a report and that my phone company has to do the tracing. I called my phone company but because it's my cell phone and Verizon Wireless apparently does not have the tools to trace calls, there's nothing I can do. Also, the number that shows up when this person calls is not even a real number. I've tried calling it back but every time I do , I get the "This call cannot be completed as dialed." I really want this to stop without having to change my number. Any ideas?

I had an idea and I was wondering if it was okay. The person called me a lot with the fake number but twice they called me with a restricted number. I doubt they would have *67 the fake number because you know, don't fix something that isn't broken. I know the phone company can't release the number to me but they can to the police. Do you think I should talk to the police about doing that? Because when I called the only thing the sheriff talked about was trying to have the cell phone company trace the number or get a new number.
And also to the person that said Verizon lied.
I was thinking they lied too but why? I told them that I talked to the Police and that the Police directed me to them so why would they say they couldn't?

I suggest this service: http://phonedetectives.co - The best reverse cell phone lookup service.
It's a cheap service that works great! It could be used for a much deeper search. You can use it to get hold of different varieties of background reports, and in addition cell numbers, addresses and names.. you can get unlimited reports... I ran with this because I required to verify more numbers.
You can get the name, other phone number, address history, relatives, and much more about anyone! The completly free reverse phone lookup generally doesn't provide anything interesting. To get interesting information, money will must be paid. The free searches don't provide considerably more than what may be found through the phone directory or personal information and they simply require your email to send spam. The reverse phone detective search tool does work, but you should use just the service that I posted above. The last thing you want to do, is pay for a service and find the numbers you want to lookup are not available in their directory.
The service that I reccomend doesn't have any kind of problem , you won't get any bad surprise! Trust it!
Reverse Phone Lookup area gives you additional access to millions of public records, including:
+ Find out the source of a harassing ("prank") caller
+ Research a number that appeared on your phone bill
+ Locate an old friend from high school or college
+ Research "missed calls" on your caller ID that you don't recognize
+ Verify an address
+ And more...

Get a No Cost Phone Number Scan at https://bitly.im/aLV1A
Its a good way to start. The place lets you to do a no cost phone scan simply to find out if any telephone data is there. This basic alalysis is done without cost. For a full detailed report its a modest payment.
Here's Reverse / Whose Number Lookup page. If you're talking about cell phones, you usually have to pay for that. I've had pretty good luck just using Google a phone number to find out who's calling. If you are researching a quantity of numbers, though, I suppose, you might want a service. I can't imagine why the average person would need to research a quantity of numbers, though, so I assume this is business-related, and it then seems only fair that you pay for a service. But maybe it's not.

reverse phone number search compiles hundreds of millions of phone book records to help locate the owner's name, location, time zone, email and other public information.
Use a reverse phone lookup to:
Get the identity of an unknown caller.

Recall the name of a person whose number you wrote down.
Identify an unfamiliar phone number that shows up on your bill.

Verizon lied. They can, but you need a to file a police report to obtain the numbers. Otherwise, tell people when they call that your are tracing thier number and making recordings of thier calls and they will be reported or somthing like that to scare them away.
