Turn your security completely off.
I bet you received so many updates that your security program is confused.
Just turn it off.
98 security isn't doing much for you anyway.

If you have the money I really think that you should update your platform. Microsoft, does not support any of their platforms prior to Windows XP platforms. Try and find a computer store in your area of the country that you reside in, where you can purchase say a cheap mouse then they will sell you, Windows XP Home or Windows XP Pro., OEM for around $100.00 for home and about $150.00 for Pro. \\

These prices are estimates as I have no idea what country you reside in. You may be able to to obtain either one for far less then the above quoted prices.

Plus there is little or no support for any kind of software or security for your platform. (Just to old).
