There's no single way to get there--

Some (Steve Martin) start as comedians and then turn actors. Some (Joe Ezsterhas) start as journalists. Some (Steven King) start as novelists. Others (William Shatner) start as actors.

Also, note that writing for the big screen and writing for the small screen or the stage are related skills. Jerzey Grotowski made it big in all of those media. It doesn't matter where your script is realized--what matters is, are you getting the royalties!

Your best route might be to find a college that offers a bachelor of fine arts degree in theatre performance. Learn show biz inside and out in that program, and use what few electives you have to take creative writing courses. After commencement, work your way into show biz any way you can.

Meantime, continue to practice your scriptwriting. As you grow at your craft, find places where a new writer can get stuff previewed--like the Actor's Theatre of Louisville or Dayton, Ohio's Futurefest. A favorable reception at one of those can get you places.

Most universities have evening courses in screenwriting. Call the universities in your city and ask for English department and find out what courses are available for you.
