I went to GameStop and the frikin book cost more than the game !

Yeah I think you need to train more before you fight that boss.
Anyways, the way I beat it was that at the beginning of the battle i took out all the little spiders ASAP, then I had one character attack the little spiders each time they came out while two characters attacked the queen mimic.

Your levels are probably too low. The fight is easy.
