If so, I think you've misunderstood it. Quindlen isn't claiming that homelessness is good - just the opposite. She's saying that one of the most important things a person can have is a sense of place - a home, that they can modify as they feel fit.
She's saying that to understand the depth of the problems of homelessness, we have to understand the individual plight of homeless people, who don't have their own walls to paint or windows to look out of.

First off girls are NOT a different species. We enjoy and are a lot like guys. Believe it or not girls are half the time are as much obsessed about sex as guys are! We just have more dignity and don't show it. Many girls are into football, video games, and all that stuff. The only difference in Men and Woman is our hormones and bodies... Understanding anyone completley is a art by it's self, women just are a little more moodier. We like just what you like. We like you to be attractive and be a gentlemen/respectful/nice.
