why?
to find the median, put the numbers in order, then find the middle number.
if there are an even amount of numbers then that means there will be 2 middle numbers.
in this case 5 and 9 are the middle numbers.
add 5 and 9, then divide it by 2
5+9 = 14
14/2 = 7

(5+9)/2 = 7
The median would be 7.

There are 6 numbers all in numerical order. The median is the middle-most value. Because there are 6 numbers, the middle values are the 3rd and 4th. Average them. (5+9)/2=7

6, 7 and 8 are all correct answers.
I stand corrected. In the real world (where I live) median is used to describe all sorts of demographic data, such as income, housing prices, etc. In the strict mathematical sense, the average of the two middle numbers of an even-numbered set is the median.

7. Because you have to narrow it down to 5 and 9. so 7 is in between those to numbers and that is your median.

7, its the middle number... and since there is an even number of numbers you take the average between 5 & 9
