would it be appropriate to have her stuffed and use her to scare the neighborhood children at Halloween? I think it would bring her great joy...

Meg Ryan: that's exactly what we're doin (not my idea, though, but not originally my dog) I'd rather bury her and have a nice headstone made...or the tree idea is nice, justin.

I vote yes on this one, Shizzy. You can put bunny ears on her at Easter, antlers at Christmas time, lampshade on her head at parties, etc. The old girl still has plenty of party left in her, let her do her thing.

Oh, I'm sorry. I was very sad when we had to put down our 14 year old golden retriever a few years ago, I cried the whole day. At least 17 years is a really good run and it's best that she doesn't suffer, good luck :(

Oh Shizzy...don't just get her stuffed. Get her artistically in action [which action is up to you]. Maybe perched atop a cantering carnival horse? Of course this would require a large display area.
Or how about locked into mortal [sorry] combat with...hmmm, a mt. goat. [first thing to come to mind].
I'm sorry...

Sadly,no. The earth claims it's own. Have a nice ceremony and plant a tree by her grave.

Make sure they put her in a good pose, like the "Grizzly Bear" with teeth showing, so you get the full effect, you know? Hugs to ya!

no, probably not. it's still awhile until Halloween again, you could probably find something to scare the neighborhood children by then.

OMG! I know that it is sad for you to do that. But I would like to know why! If she really would like that than you should. I hope the best for you and your dog.

i could put her down. i'd say to her, "you're a BAD dog! what a stupid dog! you're ugly...dog!" she'd hate that, because those are some harsh put-downs.
leave the "stuffing" to 'ssshhhh i'm a clown wig'...thats more his thing, even though being within 50ft of an animal violates the terms and conditions of his parole.
