Nope, different proteins. Albumin in egg white seems to be more of a problem than the proteins in the yolk.

Exactly what Graydoc said. Different proteins. It's not an allergy per se, but a sensitivity. The only way you really can separate is by boiling and then removing the yoke.

I think the white has too much protein for them to digest properly. The yolk has all of the good fat they need.
