When I watch "Curb Your Enthusiasm" where there isn't a laugh track, it seems kinda dry, but then when I watch lets say "Friends" it is pretentious and I get sick watching it.

Was this supposed to be a question? Cuz it seems like a statement to me... And people don't think shows are bad cuz they have laugh tracks, laugh tracks are just annoying. It doesn't mean the show is bad.

Laugh tracks if well done can be effective. The problem is that all too often you hear the same track loops over and over and over again and somehow your brain catches up on this and it loses it intended effects.

Sitcoms are bad, but when they add the laugh track it makes them even worse.

I don't prefer the laugh tracks. I believe they "kill" the joke, and are just plain annoying. They are just there for people who don't understand the jokes. Even then, it isn't going to make them laugh.

Laugh tracks are the most annoying thing ever! What really pisses me off about them is when they are played when the scene is not even remotely funny.

If they're good laugh tracks, I don't notice. If they're bad, I'm tempted to throw something at my set, but just in time I realize it's some lousy stage mgr's chintzy cost-savings.
