In this day and age is it really that big of a deal?In my opinion it doesn't make them any more or less than a person. I know there is still a big debate about gay rights and gay marriage in this nation. I say who cares?

I would have more respect for them for admitting it

I'm an old fart...but two of mine came out of the closet: Bob Paris and John Wesley Shipp. Another was kinda-sorta-never in but didn't say much in the beginning. (Robert Gant)

These are men around my age (okay..Gant is younger)...and I have to say it was exciting to find out men I looked up to and lusted after were LIKE ME. So, honestly, I would have to say that I am interested...and I care.

But, perhaps, it's the definition of "care."

Sex is a defining, central issue for 5-10-15 years in a man's most critical identity forming period. It's a little naive to suggest that people just "overlook" such a major thing or that at 20 they just stop categorizing who is like me and who is not like me.

Do I think that being gay would make Nadal, Woods, or Farve better athletes? Of course not...they are perhaps the working definition of perfect just the way they are. But with whom they sleep and partner up is a legitimate part of the curiosity that fame brings for everyone --gay or straight.

We all need strong role models. But I am not thrilled with the role modeling actors, athletes, or musicians have become. They are not proper role models when they are using drugs, partying, and/or having multiple sex partners. I think teachers, doctors, businessmen (women), and other strong people are better role models. They can have a stronger impact on young people by forming lasting, mentoring relationships with them. Would I still be their fan if they were gay? yes. It does not change who they are, they are being true to themselves. I am saddened by the thousands of people who feel the need to hide.

I do care because the more people who come out, the more it will seem "everyday" and "no big deal". We need as many out and proud gay people in all walks of life as we can get.

Not at all. I've had four gay men who have been my close friends for many years. I've never had a problem at all with homosexuality. I would admire the celeb even more if they were brave enough to come out publicly.

Not really. Would someone's sexuality distort my view of them? In today's world, it shouldn't. It does, pretty sad. Usually a negative impact as well, which is even worse. But people are changing.

I wouldn't care. I mean there's people starving and dying all around the world and we have to debate about someone being gay? It doesn't make sense
