I had a miscarraige in May. My doctor told me to get a DNC, at the time i had no money, i asked him if it was ABSOLUTLEY necessary to have it done, he said " if in 3 months you are having problems you should get it done". Well now its December. I have had 3 bacterial Vaganossis infections.. when i have them treated i ask the doctor if this could be from not getting the DNC, they say NO. I don't understand if i should get the DNC, or if i can still get the DNC. I only 21 and i dont understand much about this, so if someone can help me i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

When a woman miscarries and the uterus doesn't get rid of the products of the pregnancy after so much time they have to do a D&C to go in and get it out because the longer it stays in there it can cause very serious infections with the uterus.

As for whether or not the BV is a cause from the products of the pregnancy not coming out is hard to say. I would recommend contacting your doctor again to find out if it is ok to get the D&C.

Also, for those that don't have money but need to have surgery or procedures like this there are organizations that can be of help. If you need that information please e-mail me off site.

In the mean time til you can get a hold of your doctor here's the link to a site that may help you find even more information. It's at: http://forums.obgyn.net/pregnancy-birth
