I am doing a english paper and it is due in 6 days. The problem is that I don't have a topic yet! It is for my Journalism class. It has to be in the form of persuading something. It cannot be about abortion and it can't be about drinking and driving. My teacher said she wants it to be to the audience of teenagers. HELP ME!!!!!!!

Just a thought...

I wasted a lot of time in high school and the first time around in college. I did as little work as possible to get by, Cs were just fine with me. I graduated towards the bottom of my high school class and went to college several times in my 20s.

I went back when I was 39 years old, and actually put some effort into things. I was the smart kid in the class, got almost all As (I got a B in college Algebra and in Finance, and Dance Aerobics of all things -- missed too many classes) and graduated summa with awards and scholarships.

Now I think if I'd have applied myself in high school, I could have been NHS, gotten scholarships so I didn't have to work at IHOP, I could have graduated from college at 24 instead of 42 and I'd be sitting on 37 years of pension earnings, social security and 401(k) instead of less than 20. I might not be sitting here at a boring job I have to tolerate for another 8 years before I can retire.

Can you possibly turn that into a topic that would encourage teens to apply themselves now, instead of regretting their choices in 40 years?

On the other hand, my theses in college was "Where are the female presidents of Fortune 500 companies?" I got an A on it, and we're still wondering where they are.

There is an issue going on in our world that does mainly involve teenagers, runaways especially. Its called human trafficking, where these young women/men, not always runaways, get snatched up and are forced into slavery, including but not limited to sexual slavery. alot of it is within Russia. Ricky Martin is actually an active member in the fight against human trafficking. If you want more info. you can google it or also check out www.polarisproject.org GOOD LUCK!!! PS some of the stories that you may find are horrific, so be warned if you have a queasy stomach. And as far as you having to be persuasive, you can persuade your classmates/teachers to help take a stand. you may also be able to find something about it on Oprah Winfreys website
