I'm trying to form an essay on class structure in the American colonies. I'm trying to start with discussing the fact that the American colonists inherited a social class system based on heredity (because this is what they had in Britain). I was wondering if and how this took root in the American colonies. Also, why did it not exist in the early republic?

there was a form of social classes, as in any society. however, it's not highlighed in history books because it's not the most important thing at that time when the country was new.
