Isolate the variable. Remember to do the same thing to both sides of the equation to keep it equal.

1/2 X + 2/3 - 2/3 = 5/6 - 2/3

Now simplify.

1/2 X = 5/6 - 4/6
1/2 X = 1/6

Again isolate.
1/2 X ^ 1/2 = 1/6 ^ 1/2
X = 1/3

1/2x + 2/3 = 5/6

try getting rid of the fractions by multiplying everything by 6... makes things a LOT easier

so you end up with 3x + 4 = 5
try to isolate the variable
so subtract 4 from both sides
you end up with 3x = 1
now divide both sides by 3
the result is x = 1/3 :)

hope this helped! good luck!!
